Lower City residents mostly pleased, some want a complete ban. Businesses and the Port say the changes will hurt the economy.
Report recommends keeping major downtown streets as truck routes, but will prohibit nearly all double trailer vehicles from driving through the downtown.
After many meetings of discussions, councillors agreed to amend City’s truck route bylaw to change to allow MTO farm license plated trucks to operate anywhere within the rural boundaries.

Hamilton City Council’s Truck Route Sub-Committee will discuss a staff report responding to a motion to researching ban heavy trucks on Centennial Parkway from Queenston Road to Green Mountain Road, including the mountain access. There is also a motion, not public until the meeting, “respecting farm truck exceptions.”
