Ombuds Rules July Closed Door Meeting with Transport Minister on LRT not in Violation of Municipal Act
Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin says Council’s “Government Relations Contact Team” is not a committee of council for the purpose of open meeting requirements and, as such, their closed door meeting with Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca on July 25, 2014 did not violate the Municipal Act.

Bus Lane at $245K, Human Error Resulted in Budget Line Confusion
Collins said today there was a human error that give him the budget line for the Cannon Bike Track. The Downtown Bus Lane and Cannon Bike Track have nearly identical budget line numbers.
Davis says the amount spent on implementing the bus lane is approximately $245,000.

CityHousing Seeking 5.6% Budget Increase in 2015 due to Bed Bugs and Energy Costs
Hamilton’s public housing agency, CityHousing Hamilton, is asking Council for a $3,825,538 budget increase for 2015 citing increased cost due to bed bugs and natural gas costs increases.

Wrap-up: Hamilton Planning Committee for December 9, 2014
The first Planning Committee of this term of Council saw Partridge named chair, Councillor table a controversial secondary use banquet centre in rural Flamborough, debate student housing parking on Main West, and the General Manager of Economic Development and Planning announce changes to his department.
Councillors deferred a decision on a sign variance at the request of the applicant, and referred a special joint bylaw and police noise enforcement proposal to the 2015 Budget debates.
