For the limited ability of municipalities to address veterans issues, Hamilton is doing a very good job.
The Hamilton Veteran’s Committee will discuss improvements to the flag mounts on the Gore Park Cenotaph, have a presentation from Hamilton East-Stoney Creek MP Bob Bratina – a member of the House of Commons Veterans Committee, and discuss planning for commemoration services of the Dieppe Raid and Remembrance Day.
The Veterans’ Committee – which I participate in as a resource (I served three years) – held its June meeting on Tuesday the 21st.
This was the first meeting with new members for the 2014 – 2018 Council term.
Hamilton should discuss how the municipality can best honour and assist veterans to determine if free parking is the means of achieving this goal.
Hamilton’s Veteran’s Committee meets Tuesday to discuss their annual report and prepare for next year’s ceremonies.
The Veteran’s Committee will present to Councillors during the Emergency and Community Services Committee meeting on December 15 at 1:30pm.
