Hamilton City Council meets as a whole for their only August GIC meeting today. On the agenda: 2018 Budget Guidelines, Tax Incentive Grant for 27 Bold Street, Environment Remediation Grant for 1165-1167 Cannon Street East, Cooling Off period for former Councillors, Creating a fashion incubator at the former Eastmount School in Ward 7, update on the Hamilton Future Fund, Poverty Reduction spending strategy, and buying school properties from the public and Catholic English language school boards.
Council will debate the future of Copps Coliseum, a Poverty Reduction Plan, Urban Renewal Incentives, and Vacant Property Tax Breaks. This and more, live starting at 9:30am
Council received a presentation on bicycle infrastructure on the Claremont Access and approved the 2016 capital budget.

In just over an hour, Council completed the public portion of their only General Issues Committee in January. The one item they debated showed the influence of Citizens at City Hall as Councillors deferred a decision on extending municipal water service to a rural located bakery in Ancaster.

City Councillors discuss selling the Auchmar Estate, conducting an annual audit of the Hamilton Police Service budget, the City’s position to the CRTC on Bell Canada’s access to municipal right of way, funding for a new McMaster University program downtown, UBER’s taxi service, and revenue generation programs.
Council meets as GIC today to receive City Manager Chris Murray’s annual performance review. They will also receive the minutes of the PanAm Stadium Committee. Following this, they will go into closed session to discuss the arbitrator’s ruling requiring the City to rehire fired Public Works roads crew employees.
