The City and McMaster University continue to dispute the tax status of McMaster’s new for-profit private partnership student residence building.
The City originally forecast to collect $106-million in development charges for 2020.
As of June 30, the City has only collected $30-million. The decrease is primarily related to COVID development delays, Zegarac said.
Norton’s comments came in response to questions about why the City’s Economic Development Division is requesting that Downtown Hamilton development charge exceptions should remain in place.
