During Wednesday’s GIC, Council approved moving the City’s legal and risk management departments from the 11th and 12th floors of 21 King Street West to floors two to five of the old Wentworth Courthouse which is being renovated to house the City’s provincial offences court and office.
Staff state moving from leased space to City-owned space will incur a debt-financed capital renovation cost, but will be paidback from savings of approximately $446,000 per year starting in year three of the move.
Staff note the space in 50 Main Street East will be difficult for the City to rent due to security requirements of it housing the POA court and offices.
