The City of Hamilton says 65 of the 68 spray pads in city parks will be turned on Friday as the Provincial Government lifts health restrictions related to COVID-19 as Hamilton enters “Stage 2” of Ontario’s COVID-19 stage plan.
Some city pools will reopen during the week of July 6, followed by the four outdoor summer pools (Birge, Green Acres, Inch Park, and Walker) during the week of July 13.
During a Council meeting on Monday, City staff stated that reopening work is underway for the pools.
Lifeguards need to be trained on new protocols for rescues and emergency first aid due to the risk of COVID-19 infection this year. The City states it is also needing to provision personal protective equipment to each pool location.
The City has not stated what the capacity restrictions for pools will be.
