Hamilton’s Chief Road Official Edward Soldo is leaving to become the General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering for the municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Soldo’s integrity and professionalism are beyond reproach. He will be hard for the City of Hamilton to replace.
He is best known to the public for his professionalism in light of defamatory and false remarks by former City Councillor Terry Whitehead.
Soldo filed complaints to the City’s Integrity Commissioner, a complaint he filed on his own. He stopped councillors from harassing his staff, and firmly ensured the City’s professional engineers could provide their professional advice without retaliation.
Chatham-Kent’s Chief Administrative Officer Michael Duben holds a reputation within municipal circles as a forward-thinking leader who hires the best and enables them to do their best.
Duben has let go of managers who do not align with his efforts to modernize the municipality.
Soldo begins in Chatham-Kent in mid-January.
There has been no public statement from Hamilton City Hall.
