Hamilton City Manager Janette Smith writes that planning to reopen City Hall is underway and “A report will be brought forward in September 2021, detailing the focus of the City’s recovery efforts”.

Upon Council approving the plan, “Staff working from home since March 2020 will be
transitioned back to the work space as in-person service delivery resumes and City
policies will be updated to incorporate emerging workforce trends related to
telecommuting, use of technology and health & safety considerations”.

The first Council ratification meeting in September is scheduled for Wednesday September 15.

Last week, a City Council committee voted to recommend that public meetings by conducted by video permanently, with the public being able to view meetings on monitors in City Hall. Councillors will have the option of attending video meetings while seated in the Council Chambers. Council is expected to consider this in August.
