Public Health Ontario reports 155 new confirmed cases in the past day, and 4 new deaths.

A data lag on December 29 means that today’s Weekly Incidence Rate may be slightly overstated due the seven day average including cases reported late on December 30 and 31.

Province-wide, the number of tests completed yesterday returned to pre-holiday levels. The positivity rate average is 6.4%. We can expect an update of the Hamilton data in the next 24 hours.

Note on WIR: Cases were over-reported on December 30 due to data lag issues. The actual WIR is likely between 167 to 169.

The total number of Hamiltonians who have been admitted to hospital with COVID increased by 8 since yesterday.

Hamilton Health Sciences is reporting reporting 63 COVID patients, an increase of 8 since yesterday. 9 of these patients are in ICU.

St. Joseph’s is reporting 24 in-patients, an increase of 2 since yesterday.

Hamilton Public Health has not yet posted their daily COVID update.
