With so much happening, I missed the announcement Friday of two federal by-elections in Toronto scheduled for October 26.
The election is worth watching for how Elections Canada handles demand for mail-in ballots, manages to achieve physical distancing at polling locations, and what changes are recommended in preparation for the next general election whenever the present minority Parliament ends.
Voter turnout during by-elections is usually significantly lower than regular elections. This means Elections Canada will not face the same level of challenge to implement pandemic protocols.
