Federal Government CRA Audit Finds City Owes $1.4-Million in HST Reassessment

Canada Revenue Agency says the City of Hamilton owed the federal government $1.4-million in additional HST charges for the period of January 2014 to June 2016.
The City budget portion of that cost is $900,000, with the remaining $500,000 to be paid by the Hamilton Police Service, and the Hamilton Public Library. UPDATE: The Hamilton Police portion of this is $89,000.
“There were some charges we thought we did not need to charge HST, and flow though with vendors where we didn’t charge HST”, the City’s General Manager of Corporate Services Mike Zegarac.
