I looked into the matter of Ward 10 City Councillor Maria Pearson serving as an Agent on a minor variance application in her ward. The variance will be heard on October 19.
I reviewed the application file, and spoke with multiple members of staff.
There is nothing untoward or even of concern in how Pearson is handling the file; it is extremely unusual for a Councillor to be an Agent, and the circumstances of this particular case are very unique.
I’m choosing not to provide detail as it involves personal matters of the property owners and their family.
The variance is required due to a long-ago error, and the cost of the application is being paid by Title Insurance.
