Collins Wants Hamilton to Adopt Toronto Style Airbnb Regulations

Ward 5 Councillor Chad Collins wants Hamilton to adopt a by-law similar to Toronto’s to regulate Airbnb in Hamilton.
Collins says he has received complaints from neighbours of houses which appear to be converted into short-term Airbnb rentals.
Noting that Hamilton is not presently a tourist destination like Toronto, Collins says Hamilton is increasingly integrating into the Toronto area, and it is only a matter of time before Airbnb issues such as Toronto has faced will occur in Hamilton.
Council adopted Collin’s motion to have staff study the feasibility of implementing a bylaw similar to Toronto’s in Hamilton.
