Hamilton Naval League Cadets to Move to Public Works Building at Barton West and Caroline

North End and Setting Sail area residents have repeatedly expressed frustration that the City’s plans for the Pier 8 lands will demolish the buildings at the foot of Catherine Street that house the Hamilton Navy League Cadet programs.
At each West Harbour community meeting (disclosure, I participate as a local resident on the Beasley NA) for the past year, residents have questioned staff about the future of the Cadets, even when isn’t an agenda item.
A motion on the June 5, 2017 West Harbour Development Committee moves for approval of a $800,000 retrofit of a portion of the Public Works facility on Barton Street West between Bay and Caroline to house the Cadet program beginning in 2019.
The motion will require further approved by Council at the June 21 GIC meeting, then ratification at the June 28 Council.
