The Hamilton Public Library wants to reach 7-million items circulated per year. In 2015, the HPL circulated 6,473,602 digital and physical items, down from 6,769,703 in 2014.
To reserve this trend, and encourage more use of the library system, the Library Board voted in May to increase the borrowing limit from the present 50 items at a time to 75 at a time, the maximum number of holds from 50 to 75, and allow for up to five renewals of borrowed items when there is no other patron waiting for the item on hold.
The Library Board was told that some library patrons are reaching both the borrow and hold limits, and the collection of the library can accommodate the increased limits.
