Below are bullet point summaries of Thompson’s responses to some of the shorter questions.
Two priorities for Ward 10:

  • Safer Communities: Addressing vehicle break-ins and aggressive driving by increasing the number of police officers in Ward 10, and City-Wide.
  • Addressing Power Outages: Thompson says the hydro infrastructure in Ward 10 has not kept up with development and there are frequent power outages as a result.

Two City-Wide Priorities:

  • Fiscal responsibility: Thompson wants to eliminate the Council’s billing of their lunches to taxpayers, and end the practice of Councillors using their infrastructure area-rating funds for political purposes such as websites, grants, and drones.

Two Changes to Improve City Services:

  • Hiring 30 Police Officers: the addition of 30 new police officers – two per ward – across Hamilton to address vehicle break-ins and aggressive driving
  • Accountability in City Contracts: fix shortcomings in private contractors who are not properly clearing roads in a timely manner, and are failing to cut grass on public right of ways.

  • Improve Policing
  • Improve Road Maintenance and Snow Clearing
