Council meets as budget committee today to hear the budget presentations of the conservations authorities (Hamilton, Halton, Niagara, and Grand River) as well as the presentations of the Beach Rescue Unit and the Royal Botanical Gardens. The meeting starts at 9:30am and we’ll broadcast live.
Councillors will receive presentations from the City Manager’s Office and Corporate Services on their 2016 budget requests. Following this, they’ll debate a Vision Zero motion from Councillor Matthew Green. Replay Video.
The City’s 2016 operating budget books are now public and senior city staff are forecasting a 2.3% tax increase for a budget maintaining the status quo from 2015.
Overall, a maintenance budget will increase spending by 3.5%.
