The Art Gallery of Hamilton presented their new strategic planning draft to City Council during today’s GIC meeting.
AGH Chair Luigi V. Celli laid out the draft vision to Council, asking for them to engage with the Gallery, and to assist the Gallery in reaching out to Hamiltonians so the new strategy plan can reflect a wider cross-section of the community.
Celli says the focus of the Board for the next 10 years is to make the AGH more sustainable. A much-touted 2013 plan to expand the gallery towards Main Street has been canceled. Celli said the project was not financially viable.
AGH President and CEO Shelley Falconer took questions from Councillors regarding the collection, and recent purchases.
Council received the delegation; the AGH will return at a future date to seek a funding increase.
